End of Cycle Route sign in a future development

No Cycling on this section of the Cornish coastal path owned by the National Trust

Start of byway - I haven't tested it, but cyclists should be able to get through to the Helford River at the head of Porth Navas Creek.

Cyclists give way to everyone - on the bridleway constructed by the National Trust between Porthleven and the Penrose Estate

The coast road has totally washed away, so there's only a footpath ahead - or turn left for the cycle route to Loe Bar

One of many cut-throughs in this area of Truro

Private road, one of many cut-throughs in this area of Truro

Start of closed road past Penair School, Truro

Start of Grenna Lane, with sign (barely visible) warning of cyclists on the Cornish Coast-to-Coast Trail

Annoying Cyclists Dismount sign where the Cornish Coast-to-Coast route crosses the A30

Cyclists Dismount sign on what is shown on OpenCycleMap as a cycle route east from the Chacewater car park

Dangerous Crossing. No, really, that's the name of the place - just a normal staggered crossing of what was once the main road from Truro to Redruth.

No Motor Vehicles except for access - potentially useful for cyclists towards Mylor.

The very narrow quiet lanes northwest of Truro have been closed to motor vehicles except for access - cue the familiar complaints about war on motorists etc.

NCN route 3 on the former Newham railway branch, Truro - sign for pedestrians to keep right (I think)

No Cycling sign on this footpath leading to NCN route 3 in Carnon Downs

Warning sign at the junction of NCN route 3, the Cornish Coast-to-Coast route and a road.

Warning of cyclists on NCN route 3 ahead

Start of permissive route through the former United Mines

Cyclists Dismount sign at the entry to the Penryn University Campus from the west

Buses and bikes only on a cut-off section of the A39 - and a cycle route sign to Falmouth, presumably via the byway to Perranwell Station.

Apparently an excellent new rental business in Penzance

End of shared-use cycleway (with a useful cut-through from the right as well)

No Cycling, basically.

No unauthorised bike trails!

End of shared-use route from the A30 interchange towards Camborne

Start of paved route to the A30 underpass and Camborne - many people ignore the request and walk on the edge of the field.

Private - No Access by the main route through Tehidy Country Park

The concrete bridleway ends just short of the South West Coast Path

Cornwall Council wanted to close this road to motor vehicles but were forced to repair it - but it's restricted and hardly any cars use it.

Emd of Route signs on roads entering the Royal Cornwall Hospital

No right turn to the Royal Cornwall Hospital except local buses and cycles - but the marking on the road surface is buses only, and I don't know how many cyclists would want move across two lanes of motor traffic here.

Clearly marked as a footpath only, who knows why cycles aren't welcome?

End of shared-use section of footway entering the Royal Cornwall Hospital

Supposedly a dead end and unsuitable for motor vehicles - in fact a quiet route for cycles (with good brakes) into Mevagissey from the north.

New sign at the start of NCN route 3 (The Cornish Way) - 'The National Cycle Network starts and finishes here!'

One-way, no motor vehicles except for access - it would be nice if contraflow cycling could be permitted here.

Skidden Hill (ie skidding...) - now one-way, but it would be nice if cyclists could go down this way to central St Ives.

Very small No Cycling sign on the National Trust's Trevose Head property - but you'd be unlikely to get this far with a bike anyway.

No Cycling on the footpath across St Enodoc Golf Club

I've no idea why there's a cycle symbol on the end door - bikes would never be loaded that way.

Cyclists seem to be at the bottom of the hierarchy on the National Trust's Penrose Estate

The old road is actually still viable for cyclists as an alternative to slogging up the hill on the A394

If only Great Western Railway would concentrate on running trains on time rather than putting up silly No Bicycles signs etc.

Ferry fares have gone up! But it still doesn't cost too much to take a bike.

St Ives - closed to motor vehicles for most of the day

New gate and No Cycling sign on the Cornish coastal path

No Cycling on Bodmin Moor from the Rough Tor car park.

End of Route sign - actually it runs through the layby to the edge of Lelant village

Pedestrian sign to the Penzance Park & Ride (not yet open)

Beware Cyclists sign on the A30 approaching the very un-cycle friendly Hayle roundabout - but there's a footbridge in the middle distance which could be adapted for cyclists.

Bikes, buses and taxis only eastbound in central Penzance

Old-fashioned No Cycling sign, Penzance

No Cycling in Penlee Park, Penzance

Potentially useful cut-through to central Penzance - and less useful 'No Motor Vehicles Except for Access' to the left which doesn't actually go anywhere.

This should actually be a through route for cyclists on a bridleway.

Despite the Sustrans milepost and the No Motorised vehicles sign, this is NOT NCN route 3

Cyclists Dismount sign on NCN route 3 in Truro

No provision for cycles on this link to Truro bus station and NCN route 3

Cyclists Dismount sign on NCN route 3

Mixed messages - end of a short stretch of shared-use footway provided by housing developers

Arriving by ferry at the low-tide steps you can't ride your bike in to Padstow

This riverside track could be a useful link

Cyclists Dismount sign on the footbridge, Wadebridge - the only alternative to the road bridge. What shame they didn't build it wide enough!

Cyclists Give Way to Pedestrians - if you can find this route, beyond Wadebridge's No Cycling car park, it's a good link to NCN route 32 (the Camel Trail)

Cyclists Give Way to Pedestrians - if you can find this route, beyond Wadebridge's No Cycling car park, it's a good link to NCN route 32 (the Camel Trail)

Pedestrianisation (no cycling) on Wadebridge's main street

I presume the shared-use sign refers to the link from the crossing to the footbridge?

Motorbikes, not cycles, but still a good thought.

No cycling in Morrab Gardens, Penzance (though they're far more concerned about drinking)

No cycles allowed in Morrab Gardens, Penzance

No Cycling on this footpath out of Fowey.

No Cycling on this footpath to Fowey - the A3082 is available just to the north.

More or less traffic-free access to the waterfront at Fowey.

Cyclists on the road for half a mile from the Lost Gardens of Heligan to NCN route 3.

Electric bikes are catching on in Padstow too.

Two versions of the No Motor Vehicles signage.

It would be easy to upgrade this section of coastal path for wheelchairs and cycling.

Steps to the bridge over Padstow harbour gates, and anti-cyclist notice.

There's nowhere much to park a bike in town so you're expected to park here and walk in.

Curved viaduct on the Camel Trail - also used by fire engines!

Huge new Asda supermarket by Hayle harbour, with shared space around it.

Plan for redevelopment of Hayle harbour

People Power - my friend's personal bus stop, which he campaigned for after a bus driver refused to drop him off there for the first time. One irony is that he gets free travel as an oldie.

Press coverage of the new Cycle Hub at the National Trust's Lanhydrock estate

Pedestrian access only to Prussia Cove.

Start of the Railway Siding and Historic Sand Drag (ie Hayle harbour branch) - basically a path, but it offers a cycle link between the station and the harbour (and NCN route 3).
